Peptide Synthesis
As demand grows, peptide therapeutic production faces major bottlenecks in its scale of manufacturing, cost effectiveness and sustainable practices. We are developing Nanostar Sieving® processes to help address these needs.

Peptides are molecules typically consisting of 2 to 50 amino acids joined together by peptide bonds, each featuring a unique side chain. Peptides have a long history of cosmetic and therapeutic applications and have recently regained major interest due to new developments in their therapeutic potential.
Unique PEGabet Technology
PEGabets join together Exactmer's bespoke ethylene glycol monomers, each with a functional side group, to generate polymers that combine the gold standard 'stealth' properties of polyethylene glycol with multiple, diverse functionalities and high drug loadings.

Antibody Drug Conjugates (ADCs) have been developed as 'magic bullets' in cancer chemotherapy, combining the specificity of monoclonal antibodies with the potency of chemotherapeutic drugs, connected by a chemical linker. ADCs allow cell killing agents to be delivered directly to the target site, avoiding healthy tissue.
Multiple linker payloads are required to achieve high Drug to Antibody Ratios (DARs), but if the antibody becomes too 'decorated' in this way it can lose affinity for the target site, aggregate in formulation, and hinder its stealth properties. Low DARs prevail, increasing complexity and cost of the medicine.
Useful beyond the field of chemotherapeutic delivery, PEGabets could be used to transport other difficult to deliver therapeutics in the body, including oligos.
Linkers capable of conjugating multiple payloads, with capacity for additional cargo such as cell penetrating agents or combination therapeutics, have the capacity to revolutionise ADCs.

PEGylation with Precision
Nanostar Sieving® allows each monomer to be added one at a time to the growing polymer, resulting in 'monodisperse' (i.e., unimolecular) PEGs with unparalleled precision and control over the molecular weight (MW).

Polyethylene glycol (PEG) is a water soluble polymer with a wide range of applications. PEGylation, the process of attaching PEG to proteins and drugs, is widely used in the pharmaceutical industry to impart hydrophilicity and 'stealth' properties to therapeutics.
We are experts in PEG chemistry and provide consultations to create bespoke molecules, tailored for our clients' needs. Precise stepwise synthesis eliminates the need for purification by chromatography and maintains uniformity even at high MW, above 2 kDa.
A range of end group functionalities on unimolecular PEGs, including:
High Molecular Weights
Unprecedented control over polymer synthesis, even at high MWs above 2 kDa.
Simplified Analysis
Unimolecular PEGs result in less complicated analysis, streamlining development from discovery through to the clinic.
Discrete Activities
Exact PEGs allow for better predictability and consistency of action in biomedicine, where disperse polymers could lead to diverse activity in vivo.
