Prof Andrew Livingston

Andrew is an internationally recognised authority on membrane technology for organic chemical processes and a Fellow of both the Royal Society and the Royal Academy of Engineering. He brings more than 30 years of expertise in chemical engineering and biotech commercialisation. He is a proven C-level leader who founded MET Ltd and took it through to its acquisition by Evonik. He co-founded Exactmer as a spin-out from Imperial College London. He has held senior roles at Imperial and the Rosalind Franklin Institute, and he now serves as Vice President of Research and Innovation at Queen Mary University of London, where he leads the Livingston Research Group. His work spans more than 340 papers and 30 patents.
Dr Piers Gaffney

Piers brings more than 30 years of expertise in organic chemistry, spanning phosphorus chemistry, protecting group chemistry, PEG and oligonucleotide chemistry. He earned his PhD at King’s College London and completed postdoctoral research at UCL. He then led chemistry in the Livingston Group before co-founding Exactmer. He is a named inventor on several Nanostar Sieving® patents. As CSO, he directs the company’s research and development.

Anna directs Exactmer’s chemistry teams. She brings more than 10 years of expertise in polymer chemistry applied to drug delivery and biomedical technologies. She specialises in the liquid phase synthesis of high purity oligonucleotides and monodisperse polymers, including PEGs, and in sustainable liquid phase manufacturing.

Cristina leads Exactmer’s business development and operations. She holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Cambridge and is an alumna of Harvard Business School and of the Shott Scale Up Accelerator at the Royal Academy of Engineering. Before joining Exactmer, she managed multimillion pound projects at Imperial College London and held roles at Symphony Ventures and Panacea Innovation. She has played a pivotal role in Exactmer’s commercial growth.
Dr. Shengfu Zhang

Shengfu brings more than 20 years of leadership in membrane and module production. Before joining Exactmer, he was at Evonik Industries, where he led membrane development from R&D and pilot scale through to commercial manufacturing. He holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London, is a Chartered Engineer, and is a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE). At Exactmer he oversees membrane production planning and development.

AH Dr Andras Horvath, PhD Scientific Consultant +−
Andras, with an MS in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and a PhD in organic chemistry, boasts extensive experience in API development. His leadership at Janssen Pharmaceutics/Johnson&Johnson led to commercializing three APIs and involvement in 15+ complex projects. With expertise in introducing new technologies and managing European and outsourcing projects, he now serves as a scientific consultant, holding 16 patents and 19 peer-reviewed publications.
