London-based, we are in a rapid phase of growth and are searching for a self-starting, dynamic, flexible and committed individual to join our team. We are seeking an outstanding chemist to work on creating long-term value for the business through delivering high quality laboratory and gram to kilo scale chemistry.

You will work on a wide range of chemistries, across synthesis, purification and analysis of natural and designed heteropolymers. You will deal with preparation of monomers for iterative synthetic processes; synthesis through repeated coupling and deprotection reactions, and membrane separation. Analysis using UPLC-MS, GPC, NMR and other techniques is a significant part of your responsibilities. Excellent electronic record-keeping and adherence to safety codes and protocols are essential. Overall, you need to be flexible and ready to grow your skills and experience as the company grows and our technology evolves.

Candidates should have a chemistry PhD, and a desire to learn fast and tackle many different aspects of creating a new technology and new products. Experience would be a bonus and we are open to candidates at different career stages. As the company is undergoing rapid growth, a degree of flexibility will be required, but the candidate will be expected to be based at our laboratory facilities and work standard office hours.

Business Development and Operations Associate/Senior Associate

London-based, we are entering a rapid phase of growth and are seeking a self-starting, dynamic, flexible and committed individual to join our Business team. We are interested in outstanding individuals keen to work on creating long-term value for the business and ready to grow their skills and experience as the company grows.

You will work in two business areas:

  • Business Development– You will work on a wide range of customer and sponsor facing business development challenges. You will contribute to the preparation of commercial agreements and IP/contract negotiations. You will develop marketing materials and pitch decks for clients and sponsors, and you will help managing our marketing channels. You will identify relevant funding opportunities and you will build close working relationships with academic communities. You will support the team in the preparation of research grants. You will also work on financial forecasts and the development of financial scenarios for the company.
  • Business Operations– You will support company operations, including dealing with facilities matters such as leases and insurance. You will support the project management of research grants including preparing and submitting financial claims, supporting financial audits and preparing project reports and presentations for the sponsors. You will also support the company operations generally including the recruitment of new team members when required.

Candidates should have a scientific background (chemistry/biochemistry/biology/chemical engineering/biophysics preferred) preferably with a PhD; an ambition to develop and use business and operational skills, and a desire to learn fast about many different aspects of a fast-growing company. Experience of business, finance, project management or grant and contract preparation would be valued and we are open to candidates at different career stages. We offer an attractive remuneration package.

A degree of flexibility will be required, but in the first instance the candidate will be expected to work from home and at least 2 days per week from the office.

Graduate Chemist/Graduate Chemical Engineer

London-based, we are in a rapid phase of growth and have opportunities for graduate chemists or chemical engineers to join our team. We are searching for self-starting, dynamic, flexible and committed individuals who are interested in gaining experience and growing their skills in Life Sciences research, development and manufacturing.

You will be based in the company’s new laboratories in Dagenham-East Business Park. Primary duties will include a variety of lab-based tasks: performing routine laboratory and operational tasks following Exactmer’s Standard Operating Procedures; demonstrating practical and safe working habits; performing general upkeep and housekeeping of the laboratory; placing and receiving orders, along with stock checking; entering information into Excel; contributing to process research and improvement; and prioritising work in accordance with supervisor direction. As the company is undergoing rapid growth, opportunities may arise to move into other lab-based roles. A degree of flexibility will be required, but the candidate will be expected to be based at our location at the Londoneast-UK business park and work standard office hours.

Candidates will ideally have an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering or chemistry. Some technical/chemical experience (2+ years) would be a plus, and the candidate must be comfortable working around chemicals.

Graduate Chemical Engineer/Production Engineer

London-based, we are in a rapid phase of growth and have opportunities for graduate chemists or chemical engineers to join our team. Unique synthetic molecular separation membranes are at the core of our technology platform, and this role would be focussed on their fabrication from polymer starting materials in our in-house facility.  We are searching for self-starting, dynamic, flexible and committed individuals who are interested in gaining experience and growing their skills in Life Sciences research, development and manufacturing.

You will be based in the company’s new facilities in Dagenham-East Business Park. Primary duties will include a variety of lab-based and small-scale lean manufacturing tasks, these include but not limited to stock management, membrane filter and cartridge production, quality control, HSE assessment, documentation, etc. The candidate would also contributing to product research and development, production continual improvement, and project management. The candidate should demonstrate practical and safe working knowledge and behaviour, and the ability to prioritising work in accordance with supervisor direction. As the company is undergoing rapid growth, a degree of flexibility will be required, but the candidate will be expected to be based at our working facilities and work standard office hours.

Candidates will ideally have an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering or relevant engineering. Some technical/chemical experience (2+ years) would be a plus, and the candidate must be comfortable working around chemicals.
